Flipped the four girls on Sunday August 15th.
Sixth week of flower: Sunday, October 3rd to Saturday, October 9th, 2021.
Notes and photos from the 6th week of flower:
It is October 14th and at the end of the 6th week. I have got the final top-dressing on all four ladies. It looks like the Big Bud (Front Right) is getting close to harvest. I think one, maybe two weeks.
- Let’s talk about the harvest and when to harvest.
- The liquid inside the head of a trichome starts out clear.
- Over time it turns milky white, and then amber.
- When most trichomes are milky-white and a few are amber, the plant is ready to harvest.
As trichomes mature, the cloudiness indicates the presence of THC, and the amber trichomes indicates CBN. CBN is what will act like a narcotic and put you to sleep.
With a mini microscope or a jeweler’s loop, you can see the trichomes clearly.
They look like mushroom rain drops under magnification.
I personally like to harvest about 20% Amber. All the THC is in the cloudy trichomes.
I was just reading that people harvest 70% Amber for the desired narcotic (“couchlock”) effect.
I personally like about 20% , but I’m going to try 70% Amber on at least one of my plants this harvest.
I was also reading that 50% cloudy and 50% clear will give you a very good high without knocking you out. I harvested a couple plants at this stage last grow. Apparently, I like the narcotic effect of CBN. It was too light of a high for me. A friend of mine said the effects were too strong of a high. As you can see it’s all about personal preference.
I was able to take some pics of the Big Bud trichomes using a jeweler’s loop with my phone. Check out the last few photos to see.
